This was created using the computer because computation devices are an integral part of the multi-faceted lives of most human beings. They serve as outlets for our desires, curiosities, frustrations, and, of course, creative faculties.

I used the spray paint tool to exemplify the fact that lives are not generally along a single smooth trajectory but can have a myriad of various components that make up the lived experience.

The black represents the darkness amongst our species, when we consider the types of people who take their places amongst us – thieves, robbers, and even worse criminals. But not just those who hurt us physically or take our physical things but also those who hurt us mentally and take our sense of self from us.

This is overlaid with orange to represent the brighter aspects of existence – the sunrise, the hair of ginger females, the lava and magma flowing from a volcano. All beautiful but their bright colours warn of potential dangers – the sun from looking at it even with sunglasses, ginger females when they get angry, and the flesh-burning heat of lava and magma.

Finally, the blue represents the calmer aspects of life. Sitting in front of the television or computer and watching a good movie. Having a relaxing bath with aromatherapy bubble bath. Or simply going for a walk.

Taken together, these colours showcase an example of life of a human, or of humans, the paint being a medium through which we can vicariously experience our own existence.

This also portrays the inner feelings of the artist and produces a piece of work that examines the intricacies of humanity and our own personal truths. Named ‘Utter Bollocks’ because sometimes the phrase ‘Utter Bollocks’ is what we may want to say to particular experiences in our lives, dealing with the stresses and strains of our pure humanity.
